Pancreatic Cancer-A.K.A. The Silent Killer

Pancreatic cancer is also known as the "silent killer" since it rarely is diagnosed before it reaches an advanced stage. At that point it is generally considered "incurable."

Smoking is the major risk factor for pancreatic cancer. People exposed to petroleum products may also have an increased risk factor. Excessive comsumption of dietary fat and protein may also put you at an increased risk.

There are links to age, race, sex and hereditary. Pancreatic cancer occurs more often with African Americans then any other race. Also men are more apt to develop it then women. It occurs rarely in anyone under 50 years of age. Then there is also the link to family history.

However it seems that a high intake of vitamin D reduces the risk of it developing. 20 minutes of sunshine daily provides about 20,000 units of vitamin D. As with all diets, good nutrition can prevent and stop the progression of cancer. A good diet for cancer prevention includes eating a high fiber, low-fat diet with plenty of green and yellow vegetables. Drink plenty of water every day. There have claims made that drinking green tea also helps prevent pancreatic cancer. In fact the claim states that it helps prevent all types of cancer.

Pancreatic cancer usually produces no symptoms until it reaches an advanced stage. The most likely warning sign is significant weight loss with abdominal pain. The abdominal pain will aften be much worse at night and may radiate to the lower back. Other symptoms include: diarrhea, constipation, gas pains, bloating, belching, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, jaundice, black or bloody stool and the sudden onset of diabetes.

There are claims that some natural herbs can help in the prevention and treatment of pancreatic cancer. To learn about alternate methods of treatments, visit http://misslucky7.beatcancer.hop.clickbank.net/
